KEY DELIVERABLES.

  • Wireframes
  • Information Architecture
  • Prototype
  • Alpha & Beta Releases

In this instance, the client came to us with the concept of a “virtual beauty companion.” We began with key questions the team needed burn-down such as: What types of questions do people have about products ahead of purchase? When do different individuals need skin and makeup recommendations? What sources of information do consumers trust for their skin, makeup, and haircare choices? Would a companion solve issues consumers face when purchasing?

So we began researching these topics.

Through 18+ qualitative interviews, an in-depth analysis of internal documentation, and a quantitative survey of over 1,000 respondents we found consumers get overwhelmed with the vast amount of products in the market, and seek products that will suit their unique attributes, whether it be skin-type, shade, or finding a color that works best for them.

From here, we built out a mid-fidelity prototype of an end-to-end experience for the Beauty Genius, constructed around our insights and built a pilot for our team to use for internal testing.

Results from our alpha pilot determined our product was still getting to a product recommendation too quickly and relied heavily on the prompt messaging that it was fed. For instance, some of our product was trained using French and, in testing, the product began to speak French to our participants speaking in English. With results from alpha-testing we began to design our beta experience in hi-fidelity and worked directly with the Global Chief Digital Officer to refine the final visual direction.
